My husband and I live in the almost perfect house. We live in a Victorian style house built in 1901 that boasts the original refinished soft wood floors, new plaster, paint and drywall, new "original' doors and windows, and a high-tech cabling system throughout the inside and outside.
I call this almost perfect because the 1901 kitchen and garage are still pretty original. What I mean by 'pretty original' is that the "2 car" garage is pink, slanted, has a dirt floor that could only fit a Model T (maybe a couple), the roof is dipping and it looks like the original (wood I'm pretty sure) gutters are falling off. The kitchen has an updated cork floor but the cabinets are painted originals, and has about as much functionality as a 1901 kitchen would have.
When my husband and I come into a heaping load of cash we have plans to tear down that garage, put a foundation under it and build it for two cars with a recording studio on the 2ND story. The kitchen would receive new cabinets and counters, an island, new appliances, a new sink, a bench to fit in the breakfast nook, and a better layout which my brilliant mind has been formulating for the past 1.5 years we have lived there.
Some other improvements to the house could be dormers in our "yellow room" making it more comfortable to walk into (you wont hit the ceiling any more if you turn your head to the right or the left), and lifting the house, digging out a basement and putting a concrete foundation in (right now we are post and beam).
I plan on taking pictures and updating improvements to the historic house as the heap of cash we are waiting for comes in. Stay tuned!
p.s. If you think about it pray that we do get a heap of cash for the improvements. As I see now there is not one coming I'm just being facetious.
