On Sunday night , I decided that I needed to start a carbohydrate fast to jump start some weight loss. I need to get out of the carbohydrate burning mode and get my body to burn fat. So 40 days of very low carbs, here I come! The plan is to pair this with some good exercise so I don't burn my muscle away, otherwise I will just look like a skinny fat person. So, here I am, it's Wednesday, and I'm doing pretty good.
I'm trying to follow the Prism diet (that we did a few years ago) as far as carb cutting. On Prism, I can have 1 cup of oatmeal or brown rice a day, no sugar, and everything else that I eat cannot go above 1200 calories. So 1/3 cup oatmeal for breakfast, and 1/2 cup rice (sometimes) for lunch or dinner, plus I'm vegan so mostly what I eat is vegetables so staying within the caloric limit is pretty easy.
Here is my 3 word summary of how I have been feeling the last few days:
- Monday- Headache all day
- Tuesday- A little nauseated
- Wednesday- Withdrawal is over
I'm pairing my fast with exercise 4 - 5 days a week and tonight is workout night with the girls! Generally, we will do some Tae Bo (muscle building, cardio), Yoga (stretching, muscle building), and the abs or buns of steel muscle building (have you done those?! Hilarious). I'm thinking that because it is staying lighter at night now it might be fun to go for a power walk or quick run before we get started. I'm missing the morning runs that my honey and I used to do last spring, summer and fall.
Last night I started my workouts again that I haven't done in a week due to the nasty cold that was trying to stick right in my lungs. I felt great at the end, however I was all wound up and couldn't fall asleep until 12:30 (that's why they say to not work out late at night I guess).
