My husband has been in a band for... gosh, at least the last 6 years and this year seems to be the year of breakthrough. They were picked up by a small record label out of the Pacific Northwest that is a part of a larger label in the south. Currently, we are not sure what we think of the label as they have not been doing much other than fronting the cash we needed to record the 3 song EP that is going to be released within the next month or so. Fortunately, we only have a 1 year contract with them (special deal drawn up by the label) and have the ability to decide if we want to continue at the end of the one year term.
I am really digging the songs that they have put on this EP and "Beautiful Waste" almost brings me to tears when I hear it. This is the first album that I have been able to say "I am really proud".... sounds like a horrible thing to say... I know.
The past albums they have had seem to have been more eclectic recordings, but this new album has 3 songs that really mesh together. This is what producers tend to say is that the songs need to fit together on an album. This makes sense that you wouldn't just have a bunch of different themed songs. Take Pink's new album for example, the whole thing is about her breakup with her husband.
With this coming year the band will be traveling a lot and I intend on posting information on what it is like to be a "band wife/groupie." This is a fun position to be in following the guys around and helping promote because it does affect me directly. Bands keep on going and make it big or just keep on going. We are hoping to make it big. We believe we are in this or a reason.
